a person who speaks or writes in support or defense of a person, cause, etc.

My work at Seattle Children's Hospital has given me a different outlook on life. I have become an advocate for sick children through this experience because I realize that they can't always stand up for themselves to get help. I have grown into a compassionate and ethical developing professional in the medical feild, while also being able to exude empathy with patients and families that I work with. In the medical field, it is important to maintain a delicate balance of professionalism and passion because there are very strict procedures to ensure the safety and equality of all patients and their families.
