Scholar: a specialist in a particular branch of study, esp. the humanities; a distinguished academic.
The reason I am here today is because I am a student first. My experience at the University of Washington has been filled with leadership opportunities, management, learning, and community building. I have been able to get involved through the Greek Community and my sorority Chi Omega, as well as the governing board the UW Panhellenic Association. Through these experiences I have gained knowledge on planning long term and year round events, recruiting tactics and identifying potential leadership, as well as developing relationships with board members and mentors to work together for the success of the board as a whole. I also have maintained a balance between these activities and being a Dean's List student. The success of a leader is determined by their success as a student, as the management and organizational skills of self and school together relate to the management and organization of others and their work.
